Special Guest!

Today at Linwood we had a special guest!  Mr. Dean Davis came to our school to teach us how to do a traditional jig.  All students got to participate in a one hour dance lesson.  The jig will be one of our "mass" dances at the upcoming Dance-A-Thon on March 6th.

The Giving Tree Club

Have you heard about The Giving Tree Club?  This is a club open to all interested Grade 1-5 students.  They get together and think of ways in which they can give to others.  They give to the school community, the environment, our city community and our global community.  These students give through volunteering their time, acts of kindness, and by collecting items (both new and gently used) for those in need.

Right now, The Giving Tree Club is collecting items to contribute to the Siloam Mission.  The list of items they are collecting is below.  Although items were "assigned" to each classroom, all donations are being gratefully accepted until February 14th.

* Room 18 - pasta

* Room 16 - hats and scarves

* Room 15 - socks

* Room 8 - crackers

* Room 6 - blankets

* Room 4 - gloves and mittens

* Room 1 - toothbrushes and toothpaste

Youth Forum Ambassadors

This fall, four Linwood students had the opportunity to attend the Divisional Youth Forum.  This is a special annual event where student leaders get together and discuss important issues. Together with Ms. Jensen, Dylan, Keira, Hailey and Luke have been working on goals for our school.  Plans to increase recycling and to introduce a composter  are well underway.  When all this snow finally melts, watch for these changes at Linwood! 

Play Patrol

Linwood Play Patrol members are developing their leadership skills by providing engaging indoor recess activities for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students.  During indoor recess, our Grade 4 & 5 Play Patrol leaders offer three choices: rubber chicken relay races, sketch club and a Lego/Playdoh station. 

We are proud of our Linwood Play Patrols: Aidan, Nolan, Faith, Jewel, Dylan, Xander, Olivia, Amaya, CJ, Danielle, Amanda, Cleo, Rebecca and Skylar!
